A reading tip for cozy days

There’s nothing more beautiful than spending your Christmas holidays reading by a warm fireplace, I think. That’s why I was especially happy with the book my grandpa had put under our Christmas tree this year. It’s called “Fotografieren für Blogger – So machst du Fotos mit Klickfaktor“ written by Katharina Dielenheim.

SIGMA NEWS – Product lines

Hey guys,

here’s Tamara. Today I’d like to tell you a few things about SIGMA. Many of you may know most of it already, for all the others it’s certainly good to know. Today’s topic will be about SIGMA’s three big product lines! These are the Contemporary, the Art and the Sports series. Which series is suitable for which target group, what are their characteristic features and how can I decide which one fits my purpose of use best?

In 2012, the company radically restructured their range of camera lenses and launched these three product lines!  Each product line stands for a clearly defined concept. Since this period all their products have been developed so that they can be assigned to one of these series.

I’ll start with the Contemporary series. These are allrounder lenses. They’re suitable for travel photography as well as for family celebrations. With these lenses you can cover many fields of photography. Another specific feature is their simple build quality. You can find standard, telephoto and zoom lenses in this particular range. Recently I tested the 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM lens.

Next, I’d like to say some words about the Art series. These lenses promise a demanding optical performance and high expressive power. The product line also has an excellent reputation among absolute professionals and experts! With an excellent image performance the lenses aren’t only suitable for landscape, portrait, still life photography, close-ups or even snapshots, but also for more artistic photography. The Art series includes wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses for intense fixed focal lengths as well as macro and fisheye lenses.

The third product line is the Sports series. The purpose of these products is to capture action in movements and to allow dynamic sports and action shots as well as wildlife shots. Sports lenses deliver a demanding optical performance and great expressive power while they also guarantee detailed shots. The lenses need to be fast and precise and offer these qualities in spite of great distances. Besides being used in sports photography, the lenses are also perfect for nature photography as well as for taking pictures of planes and trains, for motor sports but also for portraits. Another characteristic of this series is the possibility of a customized and individualized set-up of certain features with the help of specific software. In this product series you can find telephoto and super-telephoto (zoom) lenses.

I hope I could provide you with some new insights on the various SIGMA series! 🙂

Tips & tricks in wildlife photography:

Hey guys, it’s me again, Tamara.

Today I went for a little walk. I felt like taking pictures of animals and telling you a couple of tips and tricks on how you can take great wildlife photos by using simple methods. Unfortunately, I only came across some chickens on my little tour. Apparently the horses, sheep, cats and dogs were hiding from me and my camera.
But that doesn’t matter, I’d only like to show you some general “basic guidelines” anyway.

Photography basics – part 6 – focal lengths and their suitability

When you read photography forums – especially the sub-forums containing buying tips – you notice straight away that many users ask the “best lenses for …” question. Beginners seem to struggle determining what focal length, in millimeters, is good for what application. Only when you know the right focal length for your needs, you can then google for specific models and reviews.

(Weitwinkel = wide angle, Normalobjektiv = standard focal length, Teleobjektiv = telephoto)
