We all know that in the States Halloween is a much bigger affair than in Europe. Whereas only small groups of kids stroll around suburban areas in zombie or witch outfits, hunting for treats, and in the cities youngsters make an exception and dress up for a beer on Friday night, America goes crazy! In front of every door pumpkins tower up, following passersby with glowing eyes, orange light chains above driveways, cobwebs decorating garden fences, and plastic tomb stones lining up along footpaths. Simply put, this may seem crazy, flashy and almost exaggerated in a European’s eyes. Just the way you know and picture Halloween from movies.
Today I’d like to take you on a Halloween walk through Chelsea, an area in Manhattan. I took my pictures, as usually on my trips, with the Sony Alpha 7R II, the MC 11 converter and my Sigma 24-70 mm F2.8 EX DG HSM. I mainly took the photos below with 2.8 as I’m also very contented with the quality and sharpness of this lens when using an open aperture.
