Guest contribution – Ines Futterknecht Photography

Hello fellow photo enthusiasts.

This month I have the honor to write a guest contribution for the fotogenerell blog. My name is Ines Futterknecht, I’m 23 years old and photography has been part of my life for most of my life.

It all started with the small orange analogue camera my parents gave me for my fifth birthday. Back then I discovered my love for photography and this love is ever growing.

In the meanwhile I started to study at the Graphische Wien with a major in photography and I devote most of my time to this matter. Be it digital or analogue – I as good as never leave home without my camera. I love taking photos of exciting day to day situations and when I’m traveling; my camera is my most important piece of luggage. Portrait- and Fashion photography are the things that make my heart leap for joy.

Today I’d like to take you with me on a shooting day. I photographed two models, each in two different looks. The models, Sarah and Patrizia, make-up artist Romina and I have been roaming Vienna for a whole day, trying to find the perfect locations and the perfect settings for our various photo themes. It’s been a very special day, full of laughter, improvisation and learnings.

Occasionally we had to do the models make-up in the car or in a random Café. The models had to change behind the stretched parabolic reflectors and due to bad weather we had to protect the models with blankets.

Nevertheless I loved working with such a great team and I think the photos turned out great.

We started with Sarah, which turned out to be a pro in front of the camera, even though she didn’t have any modeling experiences. What looks like a massive field in the first picture, was actually just a tiny patch in a park in the middle of the city, but with a little creativity and fantasy one is able to make a lot out of every Location.

It was truly a perfect day for our big plans, it was cloudy and the light was beautifully consistent.

In the afternoon we continued with Patrizia. The shooting with her was as easy and uncomplicated as the previous one and despite the low temperatures we had a lot of fun. Our concept led us on a platform above the city, with foggy Vienna in the background.

We took advantage of the day light and managed to photograph the fourth set too. Romina did a full makeover of Patrizia inside the car, because we didn’t have enough time for another time consuming location swap. We decided to shoot in front of an Ivy covered wall next to a street and I couldn’t be happier about that decision.

Model, styling and location chimed perfectly together and the whole Team was very satisfied with the total picture.

Now I’d like to show you some of my favorite making-off photos.

For these photos I used my all-time favorite, the Canon EOS MarkIII and the SIGMA 50mm 1,4 DG HSM | Art. To be able to make use of the light intensity and the gorgeous bokeh of the lens, I mainly went for a wide open aperture.

I hope you enjoyed my post.
