Many colors, impressive portraits, photos showing real life, authentic images from war areas… These are the trademarks of Steve McCurry, the renowned and admired NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC photographer.

He didn’t have to wait long for his success to come! In 1979, in the course of the conflict in Afghanistan, his pictures taken in the crisis area were among the first getting published. With the help of Afghan refugees he managed to get into the country and, wearing traditional clothes, he began to shoot. For his engagement he was awarded the “Robert Capa Gold Medla” for best photo coverage abroad.

Steve McCurry’s “portfolio” includes many photo cover stories shot at locations of international crises and wars. McCurry’s best known picture is the one of an “Afghan girl”. In 1984 in a refugee camp he succeeded in taking the portrait of a young girl with intensive green eyes. In 1985 it was published on the cover of a National Geographic magazine and since then it’s been printed numerous times.
