SIGMA News

The photokina is about to start – And the SIGMA rumor mill is speeding up

The probably most popular trade fair for the photography and video industries is about to start – the photokina. It will take place in Cologne from September 20 to September 25.

The offer comprises the complete range of photographic equipment: from cameras, storage media, camcorders, scanners to image editing software, photo books, lighting technology and lamps.
For all these reasons the wide-ranging and large photokina show is a perfect stage for announcements of great news about well-known camera and lens manufacturers.

The rumor mills also speed up when it comes to SIGMA. Thus, for example, an Art series of the SIGMA 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens is on top of the wish list after the very good performance of the SIGMA 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM and the SIGMA 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM lenses.

Beyond this, there are speculations on whether the SIGMA 24-700mm f/2.8 DG HSM lens will be included in the SIGMA premium class, the Art series, after certain amendments. And there are also wishes about the SIGMA 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM serving as sports optics.

On the website mirrorlessrumors.com, which, as its name tells you already, focuses on mirrorless system cameras, you can find some references to a new SIGMA fixed focal length with MFT lenses or with a Sony e-mount, respectively, which SIGMA generally refers to as a DN for mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses.

We’re already very excited about the SIGMA announcements at the photokina, but the great number of speculations clearly indicates that SIGMA has really hit the mark with its absolutely high-quality Art series.
