Badly equiped…

Last Friday I went on two photo-walks. Since I had not planned to photograph any special motifs, I brought the DP2 Quattro for the first round. You can see the photos I took below. When it was time to go home, I decided to take the path following the river to cool down a little. A few minutes later I saw hundreds of dragonflies whirring and buzzing around in a wild mating dance. I tried capturing the frantic display (take a look at the last photo 🙂 ), but, unfortunately, the focal length was too short and the dragonflies too wary and too fast. Having only brought the standard prime, I simply did not have the equipment to get a good shot of the speedy little buggers.

Not being able to get close enough to the beautiful dragonflies with the 30mm lens irritated me so much that I ran home to exchange the DP2Q for the SD1M / Sigma 18-300 C combo, which is much more suitable for this task due to its reach. With the increased focal length of the Contemporary zoom I was then able to take a couple of quite respectable photos. Unfortunately, I haven’t got around to developing the X3Fs yet, but hopefully I’ll be able to do it tomorrow. 🙂
